Cardiff City defender Darren Dennehy has joined Hereford United on loan for an initial one month period as he seeks to gain some valuable first team experience.

Dennehy has not featured in any Championship games for the Bluebirds and remains behind Roger Johnson, Gabor Gyepes and Darren Purse for a centre-back position. As such he has barely featured in any of the matchday squads this season and remains unknown to Cardiff City fans.

The Irishman is thought to have a bright future and joined us on a free transfer from Everton – where he was offered a contract extension. The rationale behind his move was to gain more first team opportunities – this has not happened with the Bluebirds and he must have been frustrated with his lack of involvement.

Hopefully Darren can impress at Hereford United in his loan spell and we can guage his quality as a player.
