Cardiff City supporters were quite simply magnificent on Sunday despite the crushing 3-0 defeat and apoiling of the game by dogdy decisions. The noise was impressive, directed at the spirited Bluebirds team and the shambolic referee in equal measures.

I admit to being suprised that Dave Jones was able to keep himself in check and was not sent to the stands – I’m sure Mr Taylor would have done so if given half a chance. Jones has been known to be hot-headed in the past and has picked up several stern tellings off and touchline bans from the FA.

However, on Saturday he kept his cool during the match and was remarkably restrained afterwards. He revealed the crowd had shown the feelings better than he could:

“I`ll leave it up to 18,000 people to voice their opinion, they did and they did it well.”

While we can appeal against the two red cards, any ban against Jones would not have been over-turnable and would have been an unwanted nuisance in the all-important run-in.
