Cardiff City Draw Blank Yet Again

Cardiff City failed to score for the third consecutive game on Saturday after we were beaten by a classy Valencia outfit who left their best players out of the squad and never really got out of third gear.

The gigantic Zigic header home early on before a low Joaquin shot made it 2-0. The pacy winger is by far the best player I`ve seen at CCS so far – and could well remain so for some time. We were denied a clear cut penalty, but won another late on courtesy of triallist Vincent Pericard. Didn`t matter as McCormack shot tamely and saw his third penalty on the bounce saved.

Despite our first defeat of pre-season, it wasn`t a bad work-out and there were some good signs. Gerrard, Chris Burke and David Marshall all continued their good form while McCormack did reasonably well after replacing the injured Jay Bothroyd.

The defence was solid enough but in attack we again looked laboured and short of ideas. We desperately need a midfielder capable of unlocking defences, 0 goals in three friendlies is a pretty poor show.
