Cardiff City didn’t need to break out of third gear but saw off a gutsy Chasetown side to secure a 4-0 win in the first CCFC game at the new stadium.

Jay Bothroyd got the opener with a well worked goal, McPhail made a cute backpass and Kennedy’s pin-point cross was headed home by Bothroyd.

Chopra finished a tap-in before two youngsters got on the scoresheet. Adam Matthews in particular was impressive all game and took his goal well while Josh Magennis showed good strength and poise for his goal.

Of the new signings, David Marshall pulled off two smart saves while Anthony Gerrard looked assured and creative. Mark Hudson appeared hesitant and sluggish on occasion – hopefully, pre-season will give him a chance to catch-up. The most impressive debutant for me was Paul Quinn who looked extremely solid and his height should help us defend set-pieces.

All in all – the was little more than a formal run-out but it was job done and there were some early positive signs.
