Cardiff City’s Chief Executive Gethin Jenkins is to leave the club at the end of the month, the club has confirmed. Jenking is relatively new at the Cardiff City Stadium himself, being brought in to oversee day-to-day running foloowing Peter Ridsdale’s departure.

Jenkins has been busy, overseeing the huge chance in management and personnel over the past 2 seasons. He was instrumental in bringing Malky Mackay to the club and would seem to deserve credit for that given the impressive start under the new boss.

However, following the departure of the vastly experienced Dave Jones, it has been noted there is a relative lack of footballing knowledge in the backroom staff. Mackay is a young and promising manager just learning his way, while the Malaysian investors Vincent Tan and TG have made no secret that they are very new to this game.

It seems likely an experienced hand will be appointed, possibly alongside a Malaysian as the club look to continue to make progress on and off the field. U-Jiun Tan may return to the boardroom, while someone with experience of the British and Eutropean system would surely be hugely beneficial.

For me, Gethin Jenkins has done an exceptional job, we have seemed far more professional and better managed during his tenure than in decades whilst the imemeasurable progress we have made is down to the foresight and hard work of many – Jenkins included.

We wish him the best of luck in the future, and look forward to an announcement of his replacement.
