Cardiff City are set to unveil Nigerian Soloman Taiwo as the newest recruit to the Bluebirds with a fee and terms agreed. Taiwo is in Cardiff to complete a routine medical and will sign officially for the Blubeirds within the next few hours.

Cardiff City will pay Dagenham and Redbridge a fee of around £200k, but the Daggers have successfully negotiated a sell-on fee for a player with huge potential. Taiwo is a strong midfield player and is known as a tough-tackling enforcer in central midfield.

Cardiff City fans may remember Taiwo from the 3-1 Carling Cup win over Dagenham earlier this season, rumours of our interest emerged then and he put in an energetic and impressive performance and was more than a handful for the experienced Gavin Rae.

The capture of Taiwo is hugely significant. Jones has finally been able to strengthen an area still causing concern to many and he has opted for a young, inexperienced player with potential ratehr than an old head. With the likes of Rae, McPhail and even Joe Ledley vastly experienced at this level – Taiwo offers something a little different.

The Nigerian looks set to take up a bench role initally before he can oust Rae or Ledley. He and McPhail are both out of the starting line-up but are very different players and offer Dave Jones real options from a seven strong bench.
