Reports are circulating this morning that Cardiff City have relented and accepted a bid from Premiership new-boys Birmingham City for our talented centre-back Roger Johnson.

Two previous deals were knocked back for RJ, the second meeting our valuation of £5m but with insufficient up-front cash. The Blues have not given up, despite signing Scott Dann from Coventry City, and have re-structured a deal.

Radio and newspaper reports suggest a deal has been agreed, with personal terms and medical likely to be a formality. This will be massive blow for the Bluebirds if true with Johnson our most important and influential player. With Darren Purse already departed, we’d only have one recognised centre-back on the books in Gabor Gyepes.
