Cardiff City captain Darren Purse is fit and raring to go on Saturday against Dave Jones’ old club Stockport County at Edgeley Park.
Purse had been struggling in Portugal with a knee injury and was rested as a precaution against Vitoria De Setubal – a good win for the Bluebirds.
He was due to play some part in the recent win over Yeovil Town, in another pre-season friendly. However, Purse, and injured team-mate Riccy Scimeca were delayed by flooding to roads affected by the recent downpours and the two experienced pros ended up missing the game.
Purse will be involved against Stockport County and will need to prove his fitness and form ahead of the new season with both Glenn Loovens and Roger Johnson putting up strong cases for the two central defensive berths against Stoke in the season opener.
