Cardiff City pulled off an accomplished performance and were rarely troubled as they brushed aside a Sheffield United side packed with talented players.

After a nervy opening, where James Beattie blaxed over when in a good position, Cardiff settled and were in control for the rest of the game.

Paul Parry got the winning goal in the first half after neat play from Hasselbaink and Whittingham – a cool finish from the makeshift striker.

Whittingham and Parry in particular caused problems and both saw shots whistle narrowly wide while visiting keeper Paddy Kenny made two excellent saves to deny the pair.

Sheffield failed to create any real chances in the second half, a 25 yard free kick was their best chance but it was blasted narrowly wide.

A really good win, and some excellent performances. We didnt get into top gear by any means, but were strong and efficient. Parry excelled, Whittingham was a threat while Johnson and Loovens were magnificent at the back.
