Cardiff City manager Dave Jones gave his pre-rehearsed lines again at the press conference, insisting that the failures will be rectified soon. The sloppy defending is every game, while our lack of ideas has been evident from the season’s start. Jones told BBC Sport:

‘We looked very nervous and weren’t playing as fluently as we can although all the players are desperate to do well for the fans.’

‘We seem to get punished for every mistake right now but should have cut out the cross that led to their goal.’

‘The older players must draw on their experiences to see us through.’

Scunthorpe boss Nigel Adkins aimed a veiled insult at Cardiff’s big name squad, and was satisifed with the point:

‘We gave a good account of ourselves.’

‘There are no superstars at our club, it is a team game and we all look for each other.’
