Kasper Schmichael – 6

Not too much to do but collected efficiently and looked confident. Kicking was lon distance but often sliced and maybe could have got a hand on the goal.

Kevin McNaughton – 6

Withdrawn second half and seems unable to show his best form on the right. Efficient but quiet.

Darren Purse- 7

Tried to instill some determination and played solidly enough.

Roger Johnson – 7

Recalled and vindicated the decision. Dominant and pleaded with his side to pass the ball..

Tony Capaldi – 5

A poor game, rarely involved and aside from one link with Ledley will be disappointed.

Trevor Sinclair – 6

Struggled for possession and in NOT A RIGHT BACK! Allowed Hurst to cross but at least injected some guile in attack.

Stephen McPhail – 6

Got his first goal and showed glimpses of form, but not enough to dictate. Still too conservative to threaten.

Gavin Rae – 6

Some good sliding challenges but partnership with McPhail is lacking. Busy but largely fruitless running.

Joe Ledley – 7 M.O.M.

Starved of possession but was willing to run at players. Looked a danger and involved in much of our best stuff, denied by a good save.

Robbie Fowler – 5

Largely anonymous and the occasional touch of flick is not enough to improve our current form.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink – 6

Did threaten but his touch was way off. Good assist but few meaningful contributions aside from complaining.

Substitutes:

Paul Parry- 6

Injected some pace and drive but space was quickly closed down and few options were open. A good low shot and cross were highlights.

Thompson – 6

Impressive cameo as he caused problems and showed good footwork on occasions. Mixed things up, won headers and must be pushing for a start.

i see you give johnson and purse 7, comedy defending for the goal but on the whole our defense seems ok, just stupid mistakes in EVERY SINGLE game – confidence issue?
