Cardiff City manager Dave Jones spent much of his post match interview discussing the sending off of Steve Thompson, a clear turning point in the game but was reasonably happy with his side’s display:

“Hopefully it`s just a blip in terms of results because we didn`t play poorly. They`re a good side but we gave it a big push and we kept on trying to play, and were still creating chances against 11 men.”

Bristol City manager Gary Johnson was pleased with the win but also paid tribute to the beaten Bluebirds:

‘Sometimes you have to give credit to the opposition and I thought Cardiff reorganised well and closed us down quickly throughout the match.’

‘It’s another great result, even though we didn’t play particularly well. We defended when we had to and that’s all part of being a consistent side.’
