Cardiff City recently announced the signing of Scottish International midfielder Gavin Rae on a free transfer.

Rae is a competitive midfielder with good passing attributes. At 29, he is experienced but still in his peak and will provide true competition for Stephen McPhail and Riccy Scimeca in central midfield.

His career has been affected by injury, and doubts remain over his troublesome ankles. Nevertheless, Rae brings a pedigree to the squad and was courted by Hearts and Norwich City before completing a move to South Wales.

In addition, Rae has captained former club Rangers on occasions where regular captain Barry Ferguson was unavailable. Cardiff City have a young squad and Rae can help the likes of Darcy Blake and Aaron Ramsey with his experience and quality.

Club Chairman Peter Ridsdale was delighted with the signing, he told BBC Sport:

‘At one stage he was captain at Rangers, a very experienced player and we’re delighted to secure his services as well.’

Welcome to Ninian Park Gavin.

Yeah, he was captain of Rangers because Paul Le Guen was an idiot and left Barry Ferguson out. Very poor signing.

that doesnt make him poor, because he had a bad manager?!?

I said he was poor because of the manager situation? He is a poor player. The article said he was captain of Rangers as if it was a good thing.

  • Aderyn las says:

Ah well – obviously you know best. Are you Wenger in disguise?
