BBB: What Connects Burnley, Blackburn & Brum ?

What do Burnley, Blackburn Rovers and Birmingham City have in common? Apart from all being British sides beginning with a B – a more recent connection could be made to Cardiff City and the club a new word seemed to be invented for – Gazumping!

First Remco van der Schaaf opted to join Burnley FC, despite being ‘very impressed’ with Cardiff’s new training facilities and contract offer.

It got worse for Cardiff as Robbie Fowler, having stalled for weeks but insisted he was about to sign – left City well short of strikers by turning his back on us for a option to train with Blackburn Rovers!

Then, just as things seemed to be back on track with the well publicised signing of Marcus Bent – he decided late Sunday night (after media and the official club website had confirmed his signing) that he’d rather head for Birmingham City instead…

It’s one blow after another for Cardiff City at the moment and we don’t seem to be equipped to deal with these problems. Whilst you can;t necessarily foresee these issues, the club has been guilty of oversights and naivety.

We now turn to other targets to fill the obvious gap up-front. Kris Boyd, Dan Cousin, Heidar Helguson and, heaven forbid, Steve Howard and Mamady Sidebe have all been mooted as realistic targets recently.

I’m glad Birmingham have *****ed you off. Cardiff are a dirty club and its a pleasure to get one across them. Please let us know if you find another player as we will probably nick him off you as well. Toodle Pip!

Is Robbie Fowler that much of a loss?

  • bluebirdshroom says:

neither is much of a loss. To MrBlueSky, you have a look at Charlton message boards – then see what you make of Bent, compare to McCormack (1/10th of the price) and see what you think. Plus you paid us nearly £4m for Jerome….. LOL

Now we musn’t be too hard on poor old Mr.BlueSky – after all he had to go through the relegation agonies last year and that must have affected any mind he might have previously had .. of course with the grossly unfair parachute payments + Mr.Sullivan’s porn-money he may be hoping his lot will scrape back – we’ll see .. I’m not too concerned about Bent and Fowler and I suspect both won’t be turning out too often for their new teams .. now is not the time for City fans to be turning on Ridsdale and Jones – our frustration at the events of the last week or so must be as nothing compared to theirs .. they trusted and believed two ageing players who each conned and let down both them and us .. let’s just shrug at the disappointments and get on with supporting the best Chairman and Manager we’ve had for many years as they try to put together a team that will make a serious promotion challenge.

Steve Howard got a raw deal at Leicester, fans winging week in week out at him, decent player who will score goals.

I cant speak for gtsutton, but Birmingham are a club I just can’t feel jealous of! Aside from anything else, Steve Bruce left for a relegation threatened Wigan!
