Cardiff City’s brightest young talent have been omitted from Brian Flynn’s U21 Wales squad in favour of them joining The Bluebirds’ FA Cup match at Wembley.
Cardiff City have Joe Ledley, Aaron Ramsey, Darcy Blake and Jon Brown all qualified for the game, but left out allowing them to feature against Portsmouth.
Ledley is certain to start if fit, while Aaron Ramsey could well play while Darcy Blake’s versatility gives him a good chance of securing a bench place.
Whilst not unexpected, this is good news for Cardiff and underlines Brian Flynn’s achievements with the U21 side as he still names a strong looking squad. Former Bluebirds Joe Jacobsen and Chris Gunter are selected along with striking targets Ched Evans and Sam Vokes.
