Cardiff City are lining up Shrewsbury midfielder Dave Edwards as a prospective signing. The 20 year old has been a regular fixture in the Shrews’ team since graduating from their youth ranks in 2003.

Edwards is an imposing figure in midfield and at close to 6 foot, he is a threat in the air also. He has scored 11 goals in close to 100 appearances for Shrewsbury and the Wales under-20 player has attracted interest from Norwich City amongst other clubs.

Neither Shrewsbury Town nor Cardiff City has confirmed the interest but Edwards is just one of a number of players under consideration by Dave Jones.

So far, only David Forde has signed for Cardiff City during the current transfer window, the former Derry Utd keeper may make the bench for this weekend’s FA Cup clash with Tottenham Hotspur.
