Cardiff City’s Malaysian backers, the men responsible for turning around the financial troubles and overseeing the impressive summer recruitment program, were present on Saturday and will have been satisfied with the 2-0 win over Hull City.

Dato Chan Tien Ghee is the current Chairman, and is passionate about football and Cardiff City. It is his vision and enthusiasm which has seen the investment to date, with a full takeover firmly on the cards. Only through his involvement have we seen off HMRC winding-up orders (effectively keeping Cardiff City alive) while numerous other creditors have seen longstanding debts paid or re-payment plans agreed. Charlton Athletic, Sunderland and Motherwell were amongst those we have now paid off.

All that without player sales.

Vinecnt Tan is the moneyman, the multi-billionaire head of the Malaysian Berjaya group. His involvement is simply though TG’s passion, and he was initially highly sceptical about investing in a football club. However, through TG and Dave Jones, he has been persuaded and has sanctioned the squad re-building that has seen the likes of Koumas, Bellamy, Olofinjana, Naylor and Keogh join an already talented squad.

If TG and Tan are to realise their ambition, and see a positive return on their investment – Cardiff City need to be playing Premiership football. Therefore, it will have been immensely pleasing for the travelling Malaysian contigent to see the Bluebirds racking a fourth straight victory which sees us and QPR lead the way in the Championship.

When each of Cardiff City’s goals went in on Saturday, both men could be seen applauding and celebrating in the Director’s box yet their management style lacks the publicity and self-promotion associated with leaders like Sam Hammamm and Peter Ridsdale – for the majority of Cardiff City fans, that is extremely welcome and we are delighted with the fantastic progress made since TG and co. came on board at the club.
