Cardiff City travel to Loftus Road to take on Queens Park Rangers in the second league match of the season.
QPR have made some exciting signings over the close season. Danny Nardiello and exciting Chelsea prospect Ben Sahar have strengthened their attacking options while Mancienne looks a good player in defence. Cardiff fans know all about Chris Barker, a steady and consistent defender who was released by the Bluebirds this summer.
QPR however, have lost their star player and the one who provided their spark last season in Lee Cook. The left winger moving on to Fulham, joined out the exit door by Bircham, Gallen, Furlong and Royce as the squad takes on a new look.
The Hoops were involved in somewhat of a relegation battle last season, but will be striving to do better this season. Under John Gregory they look stronger and will not be an easy team to face this season. Off the field the club is in turmoil off the field with talks regarding a takeover ongoing and necessary to keep the club alive.
An opening day draw with Bristol City, and a 2-1 Carling Cup defeat show there is work to be done, but the R’s definately have a chance against a misfiring Bluebirds attack.
Cardiff City began the season full of expectation, but were brought down to earth by a recurrence of many of last seasons problems. They just can`t score. MacLean and Feeney look inept as a partnership, and City have failed to score against Stoke or Brighton. A greater threat in front of goal is a must, Robbie Fowler and prospective new signing Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink will provide this but neither is expected to be fully fit for Saturday`s encounter.
Darren Purse could be in line for a re-call while newcomers Capaldi, Rae, Sinclair and MacLean appear to have settled well although there are doubts over new goalkeeper Ross Turnbull, who has looked slightly dodgy to date.
