Cardiff City midfielder Riccy Scimeca was stretchered off shortly before half-time during our win over MK Dons on Tuesday. It looked bad at the time and you had to feel for a player having spent over a season on the sidelines.

Now, after tests on his ankle, the news is even worse for Scimeca and Cardiff City as manager Dave Jones confirms a bad rupture to the ligaments. He told the Echo:

‘Riccy has suffered ruptured ankle ligaments and torn others. He will be out for two months, possibly more.’

With Gavin Rae and Darcy Blake, the only two similar types of players, both injured at the moment – things do not look great for City at the moment. We also failed in a bid to bring Remco van der Schaaf to the club – he instead opted for Burnley.

Joe Ledley is a candidate to switch inside to central midfield but with doubts over a McPhail/Ledley combination – Dave Jones should be looking to call in a favour from somehwere and possibly bring in a loan player as cover.

Simon Walton anyone?!?!?
