Cardiff City have lost out on another goalkeeping target as they struggle to fill the ratehr large boots left by Kasper Schmeichel.

Schmeichel was only ever a short term fix but really made an impact and filled the gap left by Neil Alexander’s departure, something Ross Turnbull and Michael Oakes failed to do.

Now, another top target, Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Ben Alnwick has rejected a loan move to the Bluebirds in favour of a switch to Ian Holloway’s Leicester City.

The 21 year old is a good prospect for the future, and at 6 ft 2in is the dominant, commanding goalkeeper favoured by Dave Jones.

Cardiff now switch to other targets, and Jones flew to Scotland last week to keep tabs on Dundee United’s available ‘keeper Gregorz Szamoltulski although Jones was reportedly not convinced with the Pole and is actively pursuing other targets.
