Lee to miss Cardiff return

Alan Lee will not be available to Ipswich boss Jim Magilton when his side come to Ninian Park on Saturday. The Irishman collected his 5th yellow card of the season in the 2-1 defeat by Derby and picked up an automatic 1 match suspension which sees him ruled out of the clash.

Lee joined Cardiff in August 2003 for £850000 from Rotherham but the powerful striker failed to make the impression his work rate promised. He was blighted by injury during his Cardiff spell and was even played for several weeks whilst suffering from a hernia. Lee scored just 10 goals from almost 50 starts for the Bluebirds but his team play and work ethic was faultless. Too often he found himself running channels and pushed out too wide to make an impact, whilst he suffered numerous injuries to keep him on the sidelines.

Lee was sold to Ipswich for £100k last year to fund the purchase of Steven Thompson from Rangers but Lee hasnt looked back since leading Ipswich’s scoring charts with 9 goals so far this season.

Lee has not been 100% fit recently and will use his suspension to rest a troublesome groin injury that has hampered his movement recently.

We hope Alan is back to full fitness and scoring goals after this weekend. Youngster Danny Haynes is set to take Lee’s place up front for the visit to Cardiff.
