Cardiff City suffered a frustrating 2-0 defeat at home to Ipswich Town, despite creating the better chances. However, victorious manager Paul Jewell, a close friend of Dave Jones’ remains certain the Bluebirds will be celebrating at the end of the season.

The final whistle was met with discontent from City fans who were disappointed at the failure to take advantage of our rivals slip-ups and also bemoaned the lack of changes made by Jones prior to and following Ipswich’s opener. Swapping a right-back like-for-like and giving burly frontman Jon Parkin a mere 4 minutes were not popular decisions.

Speaking at the post match press conference, Jewell said:

“Dave Jones and his team are 3rd in the Championship and if he doesn`t know what he`s doing, then who does?”

“Some fans had a go and it`s madness. City will go up, I am convinced of that.”

Opposition manager who are friendly with Dave Jones are often able to beat the Bluebirds (Jewell, Holloway etc). This was a classic smash-and-grab raid by Ipswich, who barely had a shot until the 67th minute opener. All the talk in the world wont get us promoted, but these are the challenges that present themselves and, once again, we weren’t quite up to it.
