Injuries Mount Up For Cardiff City

Cardiff City manager Dave Jones has gone from a near full strength squad of last week, to one lacking numbers and needing several changes to his first XI.

Whilst Danny Drinkwater returned, he looked way off the pace and struggled against Swansea City. He would ideally be rested, but fellow midfielder Seyi Olofinjana faces a late fitness test to determine his availability. Potential replacements Steve McPhail, Jason Koumas and Aaron Wildig have all been starved of first team action of late, and will be lacking match sharpness.

Craig Bellamy should also be rested after appearing in three consecutive games – the last, just 3 days ago. His knee will require time to recover and he is unlikely to play any part.

Kevin McNaughton limped off during the defeat by Swansea and is rated extremely doubtful while Gabor Gyepes could also be rested. Darcy Blake and Adam Matthews are the likely stand-ins.

A win at Reading would give a timely boost to morale, and the league standings after QPR drew last night – although we have injuries, the likes of Bothroyd, Chopra, Whittingham and Burke are all fit and more than capable of scoring goals.
