Both Cardiff City and Barnsley face an anxious wait over key players ahead of this weekend’s eagerly anticipated FA Cup semi-final showdown at Wembley.

Cardiff City strikers Paul Parry and Steve Thompson both picked up hamstring injuries last night, and both will need to be assessed to discover the extent of any damage. In addition, McPhail, Capaldi, Ledley and McNaughton have all recently managed to shake off injuries and will be hoping no adverse reactions develop. McNaughton in particular looked shattered by the end of last night’s game.

For Barnsley, the Tykes also have some injury worries. With Welshman Lewin Nyatanga cup-tied – defender Stephen Foster would almost certainly start – however a foot injury sustained in training will keep the Barnsley physio staff sweating.

Another Welshman, striker Danny Nardiello has also picked up a hamstring injury and must rest before testing his fitness closer to the tie.

There is quite some reward for all these players regaining fitness in time. It would be gutting to miss the occasion and I’d be suprised if any of the players were unable to feature due to injury.
