Cardiff City’s top transfer target Robbie Fowler could be pressurised into a move to South Wales sooner than expected as his options appear to be diminishing.

Already having rejected a move to Australia with Sydney FC, Fowler looked most likely to plump for either the Bluebirds or the Foxes of Leicester City – bankrolled by ex-Pompey chairman Milan Mandaric.

However, Leicester (unlike Cardiff), have not stood still in the transfer market whilst awaiting Fowler’s decision and have today swooped to sign unwanted Birmingham striker DJ Campbell.

Campbell’s big money arrival, and the previous capture of Carl Cort adds to the already strong attacking line-up of Iain Hume, Matty Fryatt and the transfer listed duo of Elvis Hammond and Mark De Vries currently at the Walkers Stadium.

The deal seems to end the Foxes’ interest in Fowler, although that is not yet known and they may retain some interest in the former Liverpool favourite.

Fowler would prefer regular first team football and the signing of Campbell is likely only to push him closer to a Cardiff move although there are other options available to him.
