Cardiff City maanger Dave Jones won the amanger of the month award for January after an outstanding run of form for the Bluebirds.

However, the ‘poisoned chalice’ rang true and the month of February was little short of disasterous for City. After climbing into play-off contention and looking bright, confident and a match for anyone, they have slipped worrying back into old habits and look destined for a mid-table finish once again.

Back-to-back defeats at the hands of in-form Stoke City and Norwich City was followed by a disappointing 0-0 draw at strugglers Coventry City. The next league gmae, against relegation threatened Sheffield Wednesday ended in another loss as the Owls scored a 1-0 win they scarcely deserved.

Other lows in February 2008 were a hamstring injury to key midfielder Joe Ledley and an embarrassment when injury-hit City could only name 4 substitutes.

There was one stand-out bright note as Cardiff progressed to the quarter final for the first time in 80 years courtest of a 2-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers. In addition, the continued emergence of teenager Aaron Ramsey also adds cause for optimism.

This has been a woeful month for Cardiff and we must hope for a much improved March when hopefully the impending court case will be settled, financial burdens lifted and we can begin to look to the future.
