Dave Jones gets it wrong?

Since Dave Jones’ arrival at Ninian Park, miracles have occurred. Very few fans could possibly have imagined a realistic promotion charge or to be virtually debt free with a new stadium due to be started and the likes of Michael Chopra and Glenn Loovens on the books.

The form this season has been excellent but has slipped in recent weeks, while injuries have left us short of options especially in the right-back position. Kerrea Gilbert suffered a freak training ground accident and dislocated his shoulder while emergency loan signing James Chambers performed admirably during his stint – he returned to Watford leaving a gaping hole at RB for City.

Dave Jones has filled this gap with Alan Wright, a veteran on loan from Sheffield United with bags of experience but little pace or height and it is this decision that has raised eyebrows amongst City fans.

In a recent front page poll on this site:

49% would rather have seen youngster Chris Gunter in the side after impressing against QPR.

Just 14% agree with DJ’s choice of Alan Wright while others would rather give Joe Jacobson a chance.

One other interesting statistic was that the fewest people wanted to see Joe Ledley switched to left-back, another option Jones has used at times this season, and that CCFC fans would rather see him in a midfield role.

80% of fans feel DJ has got this one wrong, but is this just a knee-jerk reaction to the loss of form? Its hardly the right-back’s (whoemever he may be)fault that we havent scored in 5 games!!!
