Cardiff scoop three awards

The annual Football League Awards took place at the Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane last night. With over 900 people in attendance, Cardiff City won more awards than any other club.

Chris Gunter lifted the Young Apprentice of the Year award. Gunter, recently touted by Dave Jones as the Bluebirds own Gareth Bale, has impressed during a number of first-team appearances this season.

Joe Ledley won the Goal of the Year award for finishing an outstanding team move against Barnsley on the opening day of the season.

Off the pitch, Cardiff claimed an industry award for the Best Use of New Media. The Bluebirds were also nominated for the Best Match Day Programme but lost out to Colchester United.

On a good night for Welsh football, Jason Koumas and Gareth Bale were named Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year respectively.

The ceremony is to be televised on Sky Sports 1, Thursday 8th March from 6.30pm.
