Cardiff City are hoping that dominant defender Glenn Loovens will be passed fit for tonight’s clash against table toppers Watford FC.
The Dutchman suffered a recurrance of a foot injury in training, something which sidelined him last season, and missed the 2-2 draw with Plymouth Argyle. For that game, Kevin McNaughton deputised – a big ask for a relatively short full-back, just returning from his own injury!
With club skipper Darren Purse also currenly unavailable after knee surgery, Cardiff will not want any further problems for Loovens, who saw a specialist yesterday, with a busy period coming up for the Bluebirds.
It would be a massive blow to lose Glenn, if further treatment were required. He is likely to partner Roger Johnson regardless tonight, but any situation involving pain-killing injections would be a worry with no cover available at present.
