Cardiff City play host to Norwich City this weekend in an important Championship clash.

Norwich City were the first team this season to beat Cardiff, as a Dickson Etuhu goal beat the Bluebirds in Peter Grant’s first game in charge.

Since then, Norwich have failed to build on the win and still lie in a disappointing league position. The canaries still lie in 17th place and appear to have left it too late for the promotion charge that many fans expected.

The East Anglian side have not done us any favours in recent weeks after losing to Derby, Preston and Wolves yet winning their games against other sides.

Nevertheless, the Canaries are capable of winning every game in this league and possess a wealth of talent in their ranks. Ex Cardiff City forward Robert Earnshaw has been exceptional and has 17 goals, despite missing a large chunk of the season through injury. Darren Huckerby is another player to watch, the pacy atttacker always a threat coming in from the wing.

Other players such as Dickson Etuhu, Lee Croft, Dion Dublin and promising teenager Chris Martin are important and mark Norwich as a big team in the division.

The inconsistent Canaries have won 2, lost 2 and drawn 1 of their last 5 games and seem to struggle against the top teams having not beaten any of the top ten since a 1-0 victory over West Brom back in November.

Cardiff are on a decent run but recent losses to promotion rivals Birmingham City and West Brom have seen them squeezed out of the play-off positions. Its very tight up there and a couple of wins would see them right back in there. The game against Norwich looks a must-win game as City will play 3 of their rivals in coming weeks (Derby, Southampton & Sunderland).

Cardiff lie in 8th and mirror Norwich’s won 2, lost 2 and drawn 1 in the previous 5 games. Watch out for the division’s top scorer Michael Chopra, who fired out a warning to Norwich and missed the away clash earlier in the season through suspension.

Vital Cardiff predicts a sneaky 87th minute goal for the Bluebirds to win it 1-0.
