Cardiff fans reaction vs Burnley

It was a hard-fought and deserved 3 points for the Bluebirds. Burnley manager insists his side were the better and deserved at least a point but he is not used to seeing teams standing up to his side`s ‘bully-boy` tactics. That is exactly what Cardiff did and it irked Burney, in particular Andy Gray and they seemed unwilling to try anything themselves. Cardiff are a fast moving, quick passing style side but stood up manfully to the physical aggressive encounter that Burnley enforced and showed an alternative style to the game that will please many.

Burnley were unbeaten away, they had not played many of the top teams granted but they were quick and physical and deserve their place in the table for sheer grit and determination if not for their pure football ability. It was the reactions of their players however that was the more disappointing. Burnley are a tough side and are guaranteed to give away fouls during a game, but they seemed genuinely surprised when a foul was given against them after a blatantly late and overly-aggressive challenge.

Andy Gray was booked for persistent dissent after contesting every decision and living in the referee`s ear for the first 20 minutes while others such as Frank Sinclair had miniature tantrums when decisions went against them.

The referee was not great in fairness, but he was overly lenient to Burnley at times and should have produced a yellow card long before he did as the Clarets got away with harsher and more cynical tackles. When Chopra chased onto his own lofted ball, two defenders clattered him, neither looking at the ball a long way away from it.

Burnley had a good togetherness and seemed to work hard for each other in defence but Gifton Noel-Williams berated his strike partner Andy Gray for his pass which went to him and not in front as he wanted. Noel-Williams decided to leave the ball to Ledley and shout at his team-mate instead.

An excellent 3 points then for Cardiff to extend the lead to 3 points at the top and show their mettle to all in the division. Credit to Burnley, they made it very difficult but created little themselves and would have been lucky to get a point in truth.
