Cardiff City midfielder Willo Flood has spent the whole of this season on loan at Tannadice with Dundee United in the SPL.

Whilst North of the border, Flood has impressed and put in some special performances. Management, supporters and media alike have praised Flood’s performances but the Arabs have already admitted they have little chance to match City’s asking price and bring the midfielder to the club permanently.

Flood did not make maximum impact at Ninian Park despite a few gutsy performances. He failed to nail down a regular starting berth or develop a role in the side. However, a season of regular football, in a league of similar standing to the Championship, will surely have helped the Irishman’s development and confidence.

A recent poll on this Vital Cardiff City website asked fans of the Bluebirds whether they saw a future for Willo Flood at Cardiff City:

No – time to move on. (58%)
Yes – squad player. (22%)
Yes – quality player. (9%)
Sell Him – only for £200k (6%)
Unsure – give him a chance. (5%)

Despite heavy early voting in favour of bringing Willo back into the first team fold, the poll clearly showed most Cardiff fans to be in favour of clearing out the so-called dead wood allowing us to bring new players in.

Of course, it is not up to the fans and Willo will still remain a popular member of the squad. Primarily a right-sided player, Flood can do a job across the midfield and, as things stand, remains in Dave Jones’ first team plans.
