Cardiff City boss Malky Mackay gave late fitness tests to Craig Bellamy (knee) and Jordon Mutch (foot) today and is hopeful that both are available having missed the last few weeks.

Rudy Gestede is back after his hamstring troubles while Stephen McPhail is also back in training but not ready for first team action. Kadeem Harris is out, but remains yet to make his debut.

That leaves exciting striker Nicky Maynard as the only major absentee. Maynard is ruled out until the New Year with knee ligament damage and may not feature again this season.

Watford have a large squad, supplemented with a huge number of loan signings – many of whom are relatively unknown in the Championship. Experienced midfielder John Eustace (back) is set to miss out, while defender Nyron Nosworthy also has a hamstring problem and may not be risked.

Stephen McGinn, Matej Vydra and Joel Ekstrand have all recovered from knocks/injuries recently but Swedish defender Ekstrund has now picked up an ankle injury so looks set to miss out. Fellow defender Neuton also misses out along with Prince Buaben and Geoffrey Mujangi Bia who are also injured.
