Cardiff City and Bristol City fought out an entertaining 0-0 draw at Ninian Park.

For once, I agreed wholeheartedly with the sponsor’s choice for MOTM with Darren Purse magnificent at the back. It was the kind of performance Purse hasn’t given for some time. Committed and determined as ever, it was his decision making and execution that were spot on and really made the difference. Adebola was made to look a lumbering fool (rather than the effective Championship striker he can be) as Purse outjumped and outmuscled the Robins’ striker – repeatedly nipping in to head clear. Fantastic from Purse.

Comminges was a little panicked and erratic while Kev was his energetic, dependable self. Ledley never stopped running and while Rae and McPhail were tidy – they were by-passed at times.

Tom Heaton made some valuable contributions while Jay Bothroyd appeared to lose his way and although he remained a useful outlet – he was inconsistent and lost possession.

For Bristol City I thought Liam Fontaine did well, Nicky Maynard was disappointing and Gavin Williams made a real difference when he came on.
