Cardiff City have urged patience amidst intense media and supporter speculation over the new managerial appointment – warning no decision or announcement is imminent.

Gethin Jenkins is quoted on the official site as calling for fans to remain patient:

‘We will now take the next steps towards appointing a manager who we feel can take our club forward. Our work will continue this week, from which a full announcement will be made on an appointment, which could be next week.

‘I’m sure all Cardiff City supporters would like an announcement made as soon as possible, but based on the importance of the decision it’s imperative that we consider all factors in the best interest of our club.’

hris Hughton, Roberto Di Matteo and Mark Robins remain the favourites to take up the reins but there have been scores of applications and high interest in the job.

Interviews have been ongoing since last week and all the top targets have now held initial discussions over the position. Chief executive Gethin Jenkins and legal director Alan Whiteley are leading the selection process and will present their top candidate to Chairman Dato Chan Tien Ghee and Billionaire backer Vincent Tan in due course.
