-VitalCardiff- speaks to an avid Sunderland fan about this weekend’s upcoming crucial game:


Third place at this stage of the season and looking strong for automatic promotion, how disappointed would you be to play in the play-offs now?

After the start we made this season its a pleasure to be even asked that question. As it stands we’re still slightly behind so were thinking more about breaking into that top two, we’ll worry about staying there when that happens. To be honest I would worry about being in the play-offs because the momentum we have behind us I’m confident of winning them this time.

Roy Keane: How much of a difference?!?

Well as i’ve already stated there’s a certain confidence in sunderland that has been lacking for a long long time. After last season heads were down in a big way, but the manager’s got everyone believing in themselves again. Keane’s expectation and persuit of perfection is seriously infectious. A maximum return is what we are aimimg for and that shows on the pitch. For the first time since the highest point of the Quinn/Phillips thing I’m actually looking forward to the match on saturday.

SFC has won 4 of the last 5 away games. Would you take a point from Ninian Park?

Cardiff I have to say are the best team I’ve seen so far this season. I realise form may have dropped a bit since then, but I would consider this to be a lot tougher than our recent trips to Birmingham and WBA. A tough game, but as i say the manager expect to win all our remaining games, and I’m not going to argue with him.


As a Newcastle favourite, how glad are you that Chopra is injured for the game (or would you rather shut him up on the pitch)?

He was fantastic at the Stadium of Light, I think he’s going to be crucial to Cardiff’s fututre. Yeah, I’m delighted he’s not playing to be honest.

Sunderland have former Cardiff favourite Graham Kavanagh. What kind of impact has he made?

He’s been a real inspration. As I’m sure all Cardiff fans know you can see a difference in the way the whole team play when he’s on the pitch. He’s been out injured for quite some time now, I think he could feature at the weekend. His return will be almost like a new signing when everybody else in flagging.

Sunderland player to watch?

Got to say Johnny Evans. Unfortunately I don’t think there’s any chance of getting him on a permanent deal. I’m sure he’ll be featuring heavily in Man U’s first team for quite some time.
