Cardiff City midfielder Joe Ledley is set for a return to the squad for Saturday’s trip to Nottingham Forest after missing the last two games with a hamstring injury.

Ledley limped off suring the 1-1 draw against Blackpool and was forced to miss the two Wales games against Lichtenstein and Germany as well as the win against Charlton and draw at Watford. Ledley did travel to Vicarage Road but was not risked and watched the game from the stands.

Saturday’s game against Nottingham Forest should provide Ledley with an opportunity to return although he may not go straight into the starting line-up. Ledley could take the place of either Paul Parry or Peter Whittingham in the side but may have to be content with a place on the bench – most likely replacing Darcy Blake in the matchday 16.

Ledley is a hugely important member of the Cardiff City squad but is naturally a left-sided midfielder, a position we have ample cover for with Parry, Whittingham, Kennedy counting left wing as their best position. Joe can olso operate in midfield although Dave Jones rarely chooses to break up the McPhail/Rae combination.

Riccy Scimeca and Tony Capaldi are also hoping to return to the match squads after recovering from ankle and knee problems respectively.
