Cardiff City will have to turn our attentions to other targets after being turned down by Nigeria defender Taye Taiwo. The former QPR man has instead agreed to joing Bursaspor in Turkey – the club where we rescued striker Kenny Miller from.

Taiwo is an experienced left-back who was very much fringe player with AC Milan but had impressed in France previously with Marseille. Andrew Taylor is Cardiff City’s first choice left-back currently but it is known that we are definitely looking to add quality in the full-back positions.

Taiwo told Sky Sports:

M/i>’I am delighted. I wanted to play in the Turkish league with a good team and I made a good choice.

‘Cardiff contacted my agent but I decided to come here.’

So far the Bluebirds have brought in only striker Andreas Cornelius during the closed season. We have been strongly linked with a number of players but as yet have not strengthened either the midfield or defensive areas – both of which will need further additionsprior to the start of the season.
