Cardiff City Rejected By Another Striker

Although beaten just once in all competitions this season, Cardiff City are desperately lacking in their attacking options after a series of snubs over the summer. The likes of Kris Boyd, Emile Mpenza, Robbie Fowler, Marcus Bent were all examples of high profile players who eventually turned down the Bluebirds.

Since then Jay Bothroyd has been recruited and American Eddie Johnson has looked a complete dud since joining on loan from Fulham. Only Ross McCormack has scored since arriving, and doubts remain as to his rol as an out-and-out goalscorer – the one area Dave Jones promised to strengthen.

It has now emerged we were turned down by another striker in Matt Moussilou – a 26 year old Frenchman who is club contracted at Nice but spent last season on loan in Qatar with Al Arabi Doha.

Moussilou cost almost £3m in 2006 but failed miserably with the French Champions, losing his place and spending loan periods with a number of clubs.

Cardiff City were one of several clubs courting Moussilou during the summer, but it has now emerged that we were against turned down meaning we had to drop further down the list of prospective strikers.

Surely we will need to look again in January for a natural goalscorer. When will we learn?
