Cardiff City were last night crowned ‘Welsh Team of the Year’ for 2008 at the BBC Wales Sports Awards.
The award was made by an independent panel who voted for City ahead of rivals Swansea City who earned promotion to the Championship and the Welsh rugby union grand-slam winning side.
Cardiff’s achievement was to make the FA Cup final at Wembley back in May, narrowly losing to Premiership side Portsmouth.
Former Bluebird Aaron Ramsey also picked up a trophy.
