Cardiff City forgotten man Paul Quinn has suffered a further blow to mark a nightmare past few months having suffered knee ligament damage during a training ground incident.
Quinn has barely featured for the Bluebirds first team this season, having failed to nail down a regular starting place since a £350k move from Motherwell last year. The emergence of Darcy Blake and Adam Matthews, coupled with the ever-dependable presence of McNaughton and acquisition of Lee Naylor has further restricted Quinn’s limited opportunities.
It had been suggested that Quinn had fallen out with the management over his lack of gametime, however, he did feature as a substitute during the 0-0 draw aagainst Crystal Palace – his only league action so far.
Further, Quinn has been dealing with illnesses to both parents, while attempts to arrange a short term loan deal rpoved fruitless with few clubs able to take on any meaningful proportion of his £4500 per week wages.
With Chris Riggott continuing to be unavailable for selection, we have only two recognised centre-halves plus Darcy Blake (currently suspended) as cover. Quinn has the height and physique to play as a centre-back, and did so to excellent effect when the 9 men Bluebirds held on to beat Leicester City last season.
Hopefully the injury will not be serious, and Quinn will be back in first team action, either with Cardiff City or elsewhere, before long.
