Cardiff City retain an interest in Rangers star Kris Boyd after having a bid turned down, but for now we are pursuing other targets – at a more realistic price.

The bid turned down was around £2.2m, and Rangers confirmed the rejection on their official site. Cardiff City have now confirmed that it was us who had the bid rejected, and whilst we could muster a higher bid if necessary, we are determined not to enter a bidding war with Hull City and Birmingham City both interested in Boyd.

Ridsdale told BBC Sport:

‘The possibility of agreeing a deal for Kris is not dead but we are pursuing other targets at the moment.’

We know firm interest has been lodged regarding 4 strikers with Chedwyn Evans (Man City) and Michael Chopra (Sunderland) known to be amongst them.
