Cardiff City will play Dagenham and Redbridge in the first round of the Carling Cup.
The game will be played at home, most likely on the 11th or 12th August and could yet be the first competitive game at the new stadium if, as is regularly the case, we are selected to play away from home on the opening day of the Championship season.
Last season we saw of Bournemouth in the first round before a derby defeat, 1-0 away at Swansea. Cardiff City fans will remember it as the only occasion Eddie Johnson was selected to start ahead of Ross McCormack in attack for the Bluebirds. He was withdrawn after a shocking first half.
Cardiff City rarely do very well in the competition but landed a plumb tie against Liverpool 2 seasons ago.
