Cardiff City held the AGM today and confirmed that the board have now approved the purchase of the fluorescent lamps needed to maintain the pitch at CCS.

As a dual sport venue, there has been considerable strain on the playing surface at CCS with the Bluebirds and Cardiff Blues RFC playing home games there. The stadium was orininally designed to utilise specialist fluorescent lamps which optimise recovery and stimulate growth.

Due to the precarious financial position over the past few years, the lamps (which cost upwards of £300k) were not a priority and the pitch suffered. At times last season, it was particularly poor and cut up badly at the merest touch.

Thankfully, the purchase has been approved and an order will be placed. Hopefully, the new lamps will be operational before the end of the summer so that the change in weather will not cause such a worrying deterioration this coming campaign.
