Cardiff City lost Mark Kennedy to injury during the 3-0 victory over Doncaster Rovers on Saturday. The experienced defender pulled up with what looked like a recurrance of the muscle strain he had felt during the week but he may now face a couple of weeks on the sideline.

Kennedy was meant to be a short term stop-gap in the left defensive position for the Bluebirds. His former position was in midfield for the likes of Liverpool and Crystal Palace. however, he has impressed many with some assured and solid defending from the Irishman.

If Kennedy is ruled out, we would surely have struggled in prervious seasons – especially with the reliable Kevin McNaughton also out with a mystery back condition affecting his hamstrings. If fit, he would surely return at left-back with Darcy Blake continuing on the right.

With our two first choice full-backs out, it would be a simple case of 2 from 3 for the Bluebirds with Darcy Blake likely to keep his place at right back. That leaves Miguel Comminges, Kennedy’s replacement on Saturday, and forgotten man Tony Capaldi. The Northern Irishman played the majority of games last term but picked up an injury and has barely featured this season. Miguel Comminges has filled in at times but struggles with positioning and remains unpredictable at best.

A poll is now open on the right hand side of your screen to see which player you think should fill in for Kennedy. Not listed are the various unlikely options including Joe Ledley and Peter Whittingham – who have covered there for City in the past. Darren Purse who would do anything to get a game or teenager Adam Matthews – a highly rated left-sided youngster.
