Cardiff City have allowed new recruit Martin John to join Newport County in order to experience first team action in the Blue Square Conference.

The left-back is on a one year contract with the Bluebirds, and is looking to prove his worth in UK football. However, Lee Naylor looks set to occupy the starting left-back berth with Kevin McNaughton, Darcy Blake and Adam Matthews competing for the right-back slot. With the quality in that position, McNaughton’s versatility allows him to play on the left if required meaning John is unlikely to force his way into the side.

The loan deal is initially until December while the club are also trying to finalise loan deals for Paul Quinn, Sol Taiwo and Gavin Rae.
