Cardiff City are reportedly keen on bringing Tunisian midfielder Tijani Belaid to South Wales to increase competition for the likes of McPhail in the Bluebirds midfield.

With Whittingham, Drinkwater, Rae, Wildig, Olofinjana and Koumas also able to operate in that role, an alternative would not seem a priority for Dave Jones.

However, Belaid would be available on a free transfer and is keen on a move to the UK having previously spent time on trial at Hull City.

The 23 year old is known as a playmaker, and after leaving Inter Milan as a youngster, he became an important player for Slavia Prague.

City have already added striker Jon Parkin to an already talented squad while deals to bring in 1 or preferably 2 central defenders is clearly the main priority. Our Malaysian owners are keen to strengthen, but the club does not have huge amounts of cash to spend up-front meaning that free transfers and low fee, high wage options are those most readily available to Jones.
