Cardiff City are locked in a 5-way battle for the signiture of a highly rated 19 year old striker.

Glasgow Celtic, Derby County, Norwich City and recently relegated Leeds United are all interested in Mark McAllister, who currently plays for Dungannon Swifts in the Eircom league.

At the moment Caltic appear to be the player’s first choice but they have a multitude af strikers already in their squad, including former Cardiff City target Derek Riordan.

Cardiff recently dipped into the Irish market for prolific striker Jason Byrne, who, aside from scoring on debut – has largely disappointed in South Wales and an untimely injury ended his season early with much still to prove.

Dungannon Swifts manager Harry Fay confirmed the large interest in the player but did not name those clubs involved:

‘Five clubs were over looking at him in the final and one club definitely wants him,

‘Obviously we’re delighted for him and are determined to do what is best for him.’
