Cardiff City manager Dave Jones bit his tongue following a shocking refereeing display. He told BBC Sport:

‘The game was over when he sent off our second man. Someone needs to have a look at it because it spoilt what would have been a really good contest.’

‘The second red was an absolute joke because Ross is holding his ground. There referee said he had a look at the player and smashed him with his forearm. We have watched it from every angle and that has not happened.

‘But I thought that the remaining nine men were magnificent as were the crowd.’

Sheffield United manager Kevin Blackwell was also bemused with the refereeing display and said:

‘I am always happy when I come away from home and win.

‘There were strange decisions. You have to accept these decisions and just get on with it but I thought both red cards looked harsh to me. McCormack was right in front of me when he was sent off and I honestly don’t know why he was dismissed.’
