Cardiff City manager Dave Jones gave his well rehearsed ‘it wasn’t our day’ lines as he blamed his side’s woefully inept performance on tough luck. He told BBC Sport:

‘It was a poor goal to give away and Darren made the wrong decision, the wind had nothing to do with the goal it was just a mistake.’

‘The goal summed up our day as it even got worse after that. It was a very poor game.’

‘You get games like this sometimes but must keep trying to work your way out of it.’

Leicester manager Ian Holloway was delighted with the win. Their gameplan was based on nullifying Cardiff’s threat and whilst they offered little, they carried out the instructions perfectly:

‘I have not seen such a competent performance from my side since I have been at the club.

‘We have restricted a very good passing side to a few goal attempts and fully deserved our victory.’
